Change to Spare

Tell me what you mean by these gasoline dreams
Fiery desires consume most everything
Every spark fades, that's the way it goes
Don't burn too bright with nothing left to show
From my window I watch you leave
In that moment I cease to breathe
I don't want to lose you to the sea
Because I still get nervous when you come around
Sweaty palms, silent, stare at the ground
Tear me inside out, tear me up, tear me down
It's always the same, isn't it?
Lately I've been having a real hard time
Lately why that is I can't seem to define
It's all the same faces but with different names
All the same notions and nothing ever gained
I feel like I'm losing it again
Time enough for nothing, time and time again
I feel we've lost before it even begins
But I still get nervous when you come around
I swear I ain't lost, nor looking to be found
Hold tight to me until I can settle down
It's always the same, just different

High Noon

For months on end, I've been on the mend
Forgot my woman, lost my best friend
But if they daylight's shining through my window tomorrow
I'm going to make this chapter end
The summer sun has scorched the land
The robots are the stars on the American Bandstand
I've never been a stranger in my whole life
Now I'm looking out west at that golden sand
My uncle went to Vietnam
And my Grandpa helped them drop The Bomb
What do you do when the war's at home
And the soldiers are our minds?
I'm headed for the ocean
Our heads are out at sea
The clouds aren't rolling in again
It's nice to see
It's the end of that for you and me
No one there will even know our names
We'll find a place where the sun is always overhead
So we can step out from the shadows

Draggin'
04:43

|

Eyelids crashing
Life light flashing
I am barely hanging on
Focus blurry
Interests curving
Am I even here?
Feet are scraping
Battery needs replacing
Life light fully gone
When it rains it pours
So I bought out the sky
Now I like my chances
When my day comes to die
Should I be fearful
Of what waits up above
I'd give everything to this world
My life and my love
Doors swing wide
Is this the end of my travel?
Decision rests with eternal knowledge
And the temper of its gavel
Swing your hammer so light, so free
Slam the sledge, so heavy
Judge me now, my time has come
From your devil I won't run
I won't run

Devil's Touch

Woke up this morning feeling quite a wreck
My baby, she don't want me hanging 'round no more
Oh my life's a mess
Everybody tries to make me feel...
(Paralyzed)
My baby she don't care for things
My baby she don't care for me
(But I love her anyway)
Lord, I try my best to keep her satisfied, well
She's always running 'round with every other guy in town
I try my best
But I can only try so much
I'm getting tired of her Devil's Touch

Two-Bit Strangers

Pushing the pedal as far as she goes
Wondering "will she take it, or will she blow?"
Getting from the sun about as much as we can take
Hoping hard we won't break
Roaming from town to town like two-bit strangers
Looking for whisky, women and danger
Every time out they get a little bit stranger
Limp into town and ask, "What do you think?"
"To tell you the truth, man, I could use a drink."
"There's a place over yonder, let's step inside."
Old man greets us, says "Sit down boys and enjoy the ride - it's a mighty wild ride."
"Every night it gets a little more dangerous
When they shut down the streets and go looking for strangers
I tell you, boys, it ain't no joke.
You boys are going to learn that lesson well."
Turns out the old man he was right
The heat hit us just as soon as we stepped outside
Next thing we know, man, we hit the ground
As thousands of eyes start passing around and around
Every time it gets a little more dangerous
Roaming through this town pretending we ain't strangers
I tell you, boys, it ain't no joke.
You boys are going to learn your lessons well

psychedelic rock and cosmic-minded country sounds that were dug in the 1970s…yet deftly passing their retro-fied sonic penchants through the eye of a modern-rock needle.”
